LAST ONE

Over the semester I was exposed to new forms of writing, pieces that really caught my attention and drew me in. This surprised me because most of the time in my writing classes I have felt the material was dull and not intriguing. This class showed me the wide variety of readings that I could like find and really enjoy. I praise my professor for bringing these pieces to my eyes. I would have not have found them otherwise!

I also learned how to use my own voice in my writing, and to not be afraid to use it. Usually in essays and formal papers I refrain from saying things I actually want to say about the topic. However in creative writing I can see how voice is a strength, and this form of writing encourages that type of originality. I still would like to learn how I can better use my voice in my writing, since this is the first time in any class I have put it to use.

I learned how well a class can function together when the environment is welcoming and the floor is open for almost any topic of discussion. I really never saw or participated in such an open class, and extremely enjoyed the type of conversation other students brought up, as well as the things I thought I would never say but did because of the type of class environment. I hope I learn to better present and articulate the thoughts Im feeling to a class over my time here at Rutgers.

Right now I my major is biology, Freshmen year I dove right into this subject and was so surprised at how much I liked learning about it. I felt the more biology I learned the more I better understood myself, my decisions, my feelings, and my experiences. But sometimes life trips me up sometimes and I get confused, is this really what Im meant for? I feel like only time can tell me this. Until then Im still studying bio with plans to probably go to more schooling after my undergrad, and just enjoying all that college has to offer.

  1. Danielle, you have a really strong writing voice and I hope you keep using it. Write, think, write, think, write--question, think, write. Keep at it. You have a lovely brain and an amazing sense of detail and specificity.
